Abstract

English is a global language with the largest number of speakers in the world, including Indonesia. Apart from the global use of this language, Bali which is one of the highly visited tourist areas in Indonesia has mandated its use as an important daily communication tools used by people , especially those directly involved in the world of tourism. Therefore, English has become one of the subjects needed by schools located in Bali, due to its importance in driving tourism on the island. In the 1990s, English lessons was provided to students from junior high school and on a limited basis. However, due to technological advancement and increase in yearly tourist visitors, which demands people to be able to communicate more in English, the language is currently introduced to students in Bali at an early age. This language plays important roles as a communication tool all over the country, therefore, it is currently introduced in kindergarten or play groups as an instructional tool, and additional lessons or extra-curricular activity. According to several studies, providing teaching or introducing English to early childhood is tasking, therefore, one of the methods used to tackle this difficulty is TPR (Total Physical Response). According to Larsen & Freeman (1986), TPR is an understanding approach which uses the method of foreign language approach with instructions and commands.
