Abstract

This is a cultural textual linguistics research of Manggaraian ritual ceremony cearcumpe. The research deals much with an anlysis of lexical cohesion of three selected ritual texts in mid- Manggarai by relying much on cultural linguistics approach. The research would be of benefit to Manggaraian language existence as well as teaching and learning English as a foreign language. The main data to be concerned with is the utterenacesuttered by spokesman in tudakcearcumpe which in turn considered as the texts to be analyzed. In relation to this, the data were obtained through observation (participant observer), recording and interview as well. The data, then, were analyzed qualitatively through three procedures that is reduction, display and verification. The result indicates that the kind of lexical cohesion which is mostly used by the author is repetition, taking 49 occurrences (54%) in total. The least kind of lexical cohesion is superordinate; There is only 4 occurrences (4%). As the most frequently used lexical cohesive device, repetition occupies more than half among the five devices.
